Dear Christian,I am writing you to encourage you and remind you that you are not alone in your circumstances and struggles. Your circumstances may look daunting and your struggles may be overwhelming, but you are not alone. I know I don't know what you are struggling with or how intense your circumstances are right now. Maybe you are depressed, maybe you are struggling with some habitual sin, maybe you just experienced job loss, maybe you are dealing with a wayward child, maybe there are difficulties in your marriage, maybe you are homeless, maybe you just moved to a place where you don't know anybody, or maybe you just received some fatal news. It may feel like you are lost and all alone, I have felt that myself, but the truth is that you are not alone because the LORD your God is with you.
I don't say that lightly. I don't say that as a cliche. I say that because He is with you. In the midst of everything going on in your life. In the midst of your hopelessness. The truth is the LORD God is with you. He is with you in the midst of your circumstances. He is with you in the midst of your struggles. He is with you in the midst of pain. As His child, he as promised to never leave you or desert you (Hebrews 13:5). He has promised you that even if your world is crumbling, he is your ever present-help, your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1-3).
I know from my own experience that it is easy to allow our circumstances, feelings, and struggles to convince us other wise. " If God is really with me, why did he allow my wife to leave me? Why is God allowing me to still struggle with this sin?" Our circumstances, struggles, and feelings come and go, but they do not change the reality that God is there. They act like a fog that prevents ships from seeing the dry land ahead. Though the fog is there, it does not change the reality that land is still there. Just like ships need a light house to cut through the fog and reveal the land ahead. We need God's Word and promises to cut through the fog and show us that He is with us.
I am thankful for God's Word and the thousands of promises that it holds. Use God's Word to cut through the fog of your circumstances, struggles, and feelings so you can see that God is truly with you in the midst of whatever you are going through. Call on Him, look to him, cling to him, and pray to Him.
I leave you with two of God's promise that I often turn to in order to remind me of the truth that God is with me.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalms 46:10
I hope this finds you well.
Your brother in Christ,
Josh
